Boyd (Kilmacrenan)
Hussey de Burgh states that John R. Boyd, of Ballymacool, Letterkenny, was the owner of over 5000 acres in County Donegal in the 1870s. William Boyd was among the principal lessors in the parishes of Aghanunshin and Conwal, barony of Kilmacrenan, at the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s. Local sources suggest the Boyd family had links with the Letterkenny area from the 1660s onwards and originally hailed from Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.
