Henry (Broomfield)

In the 1830s Broomfield in the parish of Donaghmoyne, county Monaghan, was the home of W. Henry. At the time of Griffith’s Valuation Richard Henry held the townland of Coolnacarte (180 acres) in the parish of Currin, county Monaghan, while a Mrs Henry held a townland in the parish of Clontibret, near Castleblayney. Richard Henry was a medical doctor based in Clones who married in 1842 Anne Jane daughter of Alexander Donaldson of Tullyvallen. He and his wife are both buried in the graveyard of Stonebridge Presbyterian Church. In 1876, Richard Henry MD owned 614 acres in county Monaghan, while other Henrys owned smaller acreages including William Henry of Derryisland, barony of Cremorne, who advertised his moiety of this townland for sale in November 1854. It was held on a lease for 3 lives from Alexander Montgomery of Bessmount to William Henry of Derryisland, dated 1766. William Henry was also selling lands in counties Louth, Monaghan and Armagh in November 1862. http://treasureyourexceptions.com/henry.html
