Church Temporalities, Commissioners (Monaghan)
In 1849, Sir Richard Baker was granted a fee farm grant of Kilmurry and Aghafad, barony of Farney, county Monaghan, by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, which was advertised for sale by his widow in June 1854. In July 1857, the rental of lands in the parishes of Aughnamullen and Tullycorbett, the estate of Robert Thomson, held by him and James Thomson Tennant by a fee farm grant (1838) from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, were for sale. Unsold lands were for sale again in June 1858. At the time of Griffith’s Valuation the Ecclesiastical Commissioners held three townlands in the parish of Agnamullen, barony of Cremorne, county Monaghan. The townland of Corkeeran, parish of Aghnamullen, the estate of John Francis Johnston, was for sale in June 1864. It was held with other lands on a lease from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners dated 19 December 1862. In 1876, the Commissioners of Church Temporalities owned 1,519 acres in the county.
