Dawson (Forest View)

The townland of Drumanny, parish of Ematris, barony of Dartree, county Monaghan, was in the possession of the Dawson family from the early 18th century when it was let in the year 1717 to William Dawson by Robert Dawson on a lease in perpetuity. A court case in 1850 traces the subsequent history of the Drumanny property. In the mid-19th century Thomas Dawson of Drumanny held land in the parish of Ematris. In 1876 his estate of 660 acres was for sale but Hussey (1878) records him as the owner of 642 acres in county Monaghan and 179 acres in county Fermanagh.
