Filgate (Lisrenny)
Griffith’s Valuation records William Filgate of Lisrenny, near Ardee, county Louth, holding at least six townlands in the parish of Inishkeen, barony of Farney, county Monaghan. He sold his interest in his county Monaghan lands in the mid-1850s. The Encumbered Estates sale rental of 5 May 1854 refers to 712 acres in county Monaghan and 1,616 acres in county Louth for sale and includes a lithograph of Lisrenny. Two years later the county Monaghan townlands of Kiltybegs and Domerill held under mid-18th century leases from James Tisdall were advertised for sale. The Filgates did not own any land in county Monaghan by the mid-1870s.
