Travers (Clontibret)
In the Tithe Applotment Book of 1830 a Colonel Travers is recorded in Garradevlin and Lemgare, parish of Clontibret, county Monaghan. By the mid-19th century Catherine Travers held these two townlands. Major Julius Brockman Travers fought in the Crimea War and served in India. In 1876, he was recorded as owning 545 acres in county Monaghan. His address was India. In 1872, his daughter Maria Eliza married Edward Chichester Hart of county Donegal.
