Burnside
The Burnside family settled at Corcreevy, county Tyrone, after the War of 1641. In 1797, Matthew James Burnside married Anna Maria, the daughter of Captain William Smyth of Ballynure, parish of Killevan, barony of Dartree, county Monaghan and six townlands of the Ballynure estate passed to them. In the mid-19th century their son the Reverend William Smyth Burnside (born 1810) held lands in the parishes of Aghnamullen and Killeevan, county Monaghan. In 1835, the Reverend Burnside married Anne daughter of John Henderson of Grange, county Tyrone and they had a number of children. In 1876, his estate was 549 acres in size.
