Rutherford (Drum)

A Scottish Presbyterian family who settled in the North of Ireland in the 17th century. In 1796, Isaac Rutherford was a flax grower in the parish of Currin, county Monaghan as were other Rutherford family members in the parish of Tullycorbet. Branches of the Rutherford family lived at Drum in the parish of Currin and at Caddagh in the parish of Tullycorbet. In the mid-19th century Joseph C. Rutherford held four townlands in the parish of Currin. In 1876, his estate amounted to 531 acres while M.C.C.
