Lentaigne
A family originally from Normandy in France, Benjamin Lentaigne, a doctor was living in Dublin by the end of the 18th century. In 1799, he married Maria Therese, daughter and heir of John O’Neill of the Clanaboy/Clandeboye family. Their eldest son, the Right Hon Sir John Francis O’Neill Lentaigne, was High Sheriff of county Monaghan in 1844, and held land in the parish of Clones which amounted to 976 acres in 1876. He also owned 636 acres in county Dublin and 171 acres in county Westmeath.
