Johnston/Johnstone (Ivy Hill)
John W. Johnstone of Ivy Hill, parish of Errigal Trough, county Monaghan, held at least two townlands in the county in the mid-19th century. One of these Aghnavar was sold to Sir John Leslie in 1875 (Shirley, 392). By the early 20th century Ivy Hill was in the possession of the Moutrays of Favour Royal, county Tyrone. In 1847, an attempt on the life of John Johnston, a magistrate, of Ivy Hill, was reported in The Spectator (11 December 1847).
