Hopes
In the mid-19th century Charles Hopes held an estate mainly in the parish of Kilmore but also in that of Tullycorbet, county Monaghan. He was a partner in a Dublin stationery firm and had various other business interests. He was High Sheriff of Monaghan in 1853. Charles Hopes (1778-1864) married Catherine Stewart and they had one daughter who died before her father. William Charles Waddell of Lisnaveane was his nephew and land agent.
