Hayes (Raphoe South)
Sir Edmund Hayes' estate was among the principal lessors in the parishes of Convoy and Stranorlar, barony of Raphoe South, County Donegal, at the time of Griffiths Valuation. In the 1870s, his son, Sir Samuel Hayes was recorded as owning over 22,000 acres. In 1877 he offered over 6000 acres for sale in the Landed Estates Court. The Hayes family inherited their Donegal estate from the Basil family through the marriage of Samuel Hayes and Mary Basil in the eighteenth century.
