Slack (Slacksgrove)
The Slacke family came to Ireland from Derbyshire at the end of the 17th century and settled in counties Leitrim, Dublin and Monaghan. John Slacke was High Sheriff of county Monaghan in 1758. The Slackes had connections with the Owen and Wright families through marriage. In county Monaghan they were resident at Slacksgrove in the parish of Tedavnet. Trustees of Captain Slacke held a townland in the parish of Kilmore at the time of Griffith’s Valuation.
