Forster (Ballynure)

Shirley records the sale of the Ballynure property belonging to Captain William Smyth to William Forster in 1780. William Forster married Jane Cranston of Cranesbrook, and had a son born in 1801 who was married to Frances daughter of the Reverend Charles Atkinson of Creggan. The Forster estate was in the parishes of Killeevan, Clones and Tedavnet. Walford records the Rev Arthur Haire- Forster of Ballynure, youngest son of the Reverend Hamilton Haire and his wife Charlotte Forster daughter of William Forster, whose name he assumed in 1875. In 1876 ,the representatives of William Forster owned 2,093 acres in county Monaghan. In 1906, the Reverend A. H. 'Foster' was recorded as the occupier in the Valuation Lists of the mansion house Ballynure with a rateable valuation of £50.
