Langdale
In 1852, Charles Joseph Langdale, a descendant of the Barons Langdale and the Barons Stourton, married Henrietta, daughter and co-heir of Henry Grattan of Celbridge Abbey, county Kildare. Henrietta inherited from her father estates in counties Kildare (462 acres), Meath (994 acres) and Monaghan (1,547 acres). In 1876, Charles Langdale of The Abbey, Celbridge, owned 1,391 acres in county Monaghan and the representatives of Henry Grattan owned 1,004 acres in county Cavan and 926 acres in county Meath. Charles Langdale died in 1895 and his wife Henrietta died in 1898. They had four sons and two daughters. Their second son was a Benedictine monk at Downside Abbey.
