Singleton

Thomas Singleton of Fort Singleton, Emyvale, county Monaghan, and his wife Isabella Crawford, had a son Thomas born in 1760. Thomas (junior) married his cousin Annabella Crawford and died in 1836. They had an only child Isabella, born in 1783, who married her cousin Andrew Crawford of Auburn, county Dublin in 1802. In 1842, their son Thomas Crawford succeeded to the Fort Singleton estate and assumed the name of Singleton. The Fort Singleton estate was in the parishes of Donagh and Errigal Trough, barony of Trough. In 1876, Thomas Crawford Singleton owned 4,489 acres in county Monaghan and 766 acres in county Cavan, parish of Kinawley.
