Cole (Florence Court)

Part of the Cole estate was in county Monaghan, in the parish of Aghabog, barony of Dartree. At the time of Griffith’s Valuation it was held by the Honourable John Lowry Cole (1813-1882), son of the 2nd Earl of Enniskillen and Member of Parliament for Enniskillen. In 1876 John Lowry Cole owned 587 acres in the county. Owen Blayney Cole of Brandrum, county Monaghan, was the son of Brigadier Major Henry Cole of the Florence Court, county Fermanagh family and his wife Jane Elizabeth, daughter and co heir of John Owen of Raconnell. At the time of Griffith’s Valuation Owen B. Cole and his aunt Olivia Lucas held land in the parishes of Clones, Drumsnat and Tedavnet, barony of Monaghan. In 1876, Owen B. Cole owned 430 acres in the county.
