Verner
Henry Verner’s father settled in county Armagh in the 17th century. His grandson, Thomas Verner of Church Hill, Verner’s Bridge, Moy, on the border of counties Armagh and Tyrone, married an heiress Margaret Kerr from the parish of Kilrue, county Meath. They had no children and Thomas Verner’s grand-nephew, William Verner, inherited his estates in 1788 and was created a baronet in 1846. Sir William Verner of Church Hill was a Member of Parliament for county Armagh and served in the Peninsular War under the Duke of Wellington. At the time of Griffith’s Valuation he held an estate in county Monaghan, mainly located in the parishes of Aghnamullen, barony of Cremorne and Errigal Trough in the barony of Trough. He died in 1870. His son, Sir William Verner, 2nd Baronet, owned 2,526 acres in county Monaghan, 5,436 acres in county Armagh, 16,042 acres in county Tyrone and 140 acres in county Wicklow. http://www.craigavonhistoricalsociety.org.uk/rev/kerrchurchill.php
