Forster
John Forster [sometimes spelt Foster] was Member of Parliament for county Monaghan in 1661. In 1667, he was granted the Tullaghan estate in the parish of Tedavnet, county Monaghan, by Charles II, consisting of 2,713 acres in the baronies of Monaghan and Cremorne. His great grandson, the Reverend Thomas Forster, was created a baronet in 1794 and died in 1843. He was succeeded by his son, George, 2nd Baronet, of Coolderry, Carrickmacross. On 4 April 1854, 2,847 acres comprised of the Slievebagh, Tullaghan, Drumlina and Coolderry estates in county Monaghan, 134 acres in county Fermanagh and some town holdings in Ardee, county Louth were offered for sale in the Encumbered Estates Court. A few years later Griffith's Valuation records the 2nd Baronet holding an estate of 13 townlands in the parish of Tedavnet, barony of Monaghan. In 1876, this estate contained 2,062 acres.
