Both the Report on owners of 1 acres and upwards and Hussey de Burgh cite "the late John Hargrave", with an address in Berkshire, as the owner of over 1400 acres in county Watrerford in the 1870s. Possibly connected with the Hargrave or Hargreave family of Cork some of whom were architects or involved in the medical profession.
