Egan (Sharragh)
Griffith's Valuation records Howard N. Egan holding land in the parishes of Dorrha, Kilbarron and Lorrha, barony of Lower Ormond, county Tipperary. In June 1853 the estate of Howard Nethercoat Egan and Terence Cornelius John Egan at Sharragh, barony of Lower Ormond, was advertised for sale being the residue of their estates. The Freeman's Journal reported that it was purchased by Frederick Hamilton. In July 1858 part of the lands of Sharragh, parish of Dorrha, the estate of Terence Cornelius John Egan, Thomas Gerrard Hemsworth, Henry Hemsworth and Patrick Meara, 240 acres in the barony of Lower Ormond, was advertised for sale. Howard N. Egan formerly of Sharragh, county Tipperary, died on the 11 April 1870, aged 67 years and was buried in Mount Jerome cemetery, Dublin.
