Giles

At the time of Griffith's Valuation, Miss Catherine Giles held townlands in the parish of Dungarvan, county Waterford. In the 1870s her estate amounted to over 700 acres in that county with over 100 acres in county Limerick. She was resident in Merrion Square, Dublin, at the time. Walter Giles, with an address in Pembroke road, Dublin, held over 600 acres in county Waterford as well as over 130 acres in county Kilkenny. Richard and George Giles established a bank in Youghal, county Cork, in 1799. Property owned by Henrietta Giles in the barony of Duhallow and the town of Youghal was sold in the Incumbered Estates Court in June 1853.
