Murphy (Ballymore)

''Burkes Irish Family Records'' states that Patrick Murphy was granted a lease of lands at Ballymore, Cashel, county Tipperary, as a reward for saving the life of one of King William's entourage. Patrick's lands in county Wexford had previously been confiscated by Cromwell. The representatives of his descendant Daniel Murphy, who died in Argentina in 1849 held land in the parish of Clonoulty, barony of Kilnamanagh Lower, at the time of Griffith's Valuation while Edmond Murphy held land in the parish of Ardmayle, barony of Middlethird. This family appear to be related to the Murphys of Ballinamona. In the 1870s Mrs Murphy of Ballymore Castle owned 3 acres and Edmond W. Murphy of Woodford owned 298 acres in county Tipperary.
