Lyons (Cork)
Francis Lyons, Mayor of Cork 1866-1868, was the owner of 866 acres in county Cork in the 1870s. He appears to be the son of Francis Lyons, brother of Thomas Lyon, the first Catholic Mayor of the city. In 1863 he married Frances daughter of Nicholas Daniel Murphy, Member of Parliament, and he died in 1886. Francis may have been a relative of the Lyons family of Croom, county Limerick.
