Bryan/Butler Bryan
Robert Butler Bryan held land in the parishes of Ballingarry, Kilcooly and Modeshil, barony of Slievardagh, county Tipperary in the mid 19th century. The Butler Bryan were related to Archbishop King and to the Butler family, Dukes of Ormonde. Robert Butler Bryan junior was murdered in county Wexford in 1841 following a land related controversy. In the 1870s the Reverend William Butler Bryan of Woodenbridge, Avoca, county Wicklow, owned 782 acres in county Kilkenny.
