Burdett
Descended from Samuel Burdett who settled at Lismalin, county Tipperary, in the mid 17th century, this family held land in both county Tipperary and Queen's County (Laois). George Burdett of Heath House, Queen's County, Member of Parliament, died in 1817 and was succeeded by his son Arthur of Ballymany, county Kildare and Ballywalter, county Tipperary, who purchased the Coolfin estate in King's County in 1836. In the 1870s Arthur Burdett, grandson of George, owned 724 acres in county Tipperary, 2,732 acres in King's County (Offaly) and 509 acres in county Kildare. In 1862 he married Grace daughter of John Eyre Trench of Clonfert House, county Galway.
