Byrne (Buolick)
Lewis refers to the coal works "now being opened on the estate of Mark Byrne" in the mid 1830s. At the time of Griffith's Valuation Mark Byrne held eight townlands in the parish of Buolick, barony of Slievardagh, county Tipperary and Edmund Byrne held one townland. [In the 1870s William Byrne of Glenconnor House, Clonmel owned 887 acres in county Tipperary.]
