Allman (County Cork)

The Allman family were entrepreneurs in Bandon in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Initially they had a cotton mill but after this declined they established a successful distillery which continued in business until the 1930s. George Allman of Bandon was the owner of over 700 acres in county Cork in the 1870s. Walford notes that Richard Lane Allman served as MP for Bandon in 1880.
