Hammersley

At the time of Griffith's Valuation Captain Richard Hammesley held land in the parish of Oola, barony of Coonagh, county Limerick and in the parish of Toem, barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, county Tipperary. In July 1860 102 acres at Prospect, parish of Oola, and 683 acres in county Tipperary, the estate of Wilhelmina Hammersley, widow, was advertised for sale. The county Limerick property was held on a lease dated 21 May 1778 David Bradshaw to William Hammersley. In December 1861 the Irish Times reported that a portion of this estate had been sold in trust to Mr. Fitzgerald. In 1808 Richard Hammersley married Wilhelmina Sadlier of county Tipperary. see http://www.marshalclarke.com/ClarkesOfGraiguenoepark/Clarkes5.htm
