At the time of Griffith's Valuation Edmond O'Ryan held land in the parishes of Donohill, Emly and Templeneiry, John Ryan held land in the parish of Emly and Thomas Ryan held a number of small townlands in the parish of Donohill, barony of Clanwilliam, county Tipperary. The Ryan lands in the parish of Emly were held from the Earl of Normanton and the Bishop of Cashel. The interest of William O'Ryan, "an insolvent", in the lands of Cross, barony of Coonagh, county Limerick and Bansha, barony of Clanwilliam, county Tipperary was advertised for sale in the Landed Estates' Court in July 1860 and the Bansha land again in May 1862. The life interest of William O'Ryan in the Bansha land was readvertised in June 1866. In the 1870s Major John Lutman owned 485 acres in county Tipperary and 94 acres in county Limerick. He married Harriet O'Ryan of Bansha in 1852. seehttp://genforum.genealogy.com/lutman/messages/27.html see also http://www.banshacastle.com/index.html
