Stapleton
Weir records the Stapleton family as resident in the Crusheen locality of county Clare in the mid 18th century. In the mid 19th century Henrietta Stapleton holding land in the 1,460 acre townland of Maghera, parish of Clooney, barony of Bunratty Upper, William and Margaret Stapleton held land in the parish of Inchicronan, barony of Bunratty Upper, while Mary Stapleton held the townland of Rinnamona, parish of Killinaboy, barony of Inchiquin. In the 1870s Anna Maria Stapleton of Viewmount, Crusheen, county Clare, owned 597 acres in county Clare, while Mary and Sarah Stapleton of Bedford House, St Anne's, Dollymount, county Dublin, each owned 486 acres in the same county.
