Gloster
Members of the Gloster family, George, James and Richard, held land in county Clare mainly in the parishes of St Munchins and St Patricks, barony of Bunratty Lower, close to the city of Limerick. They also had land in the parishes of Noughaval, barony of Burren and O’Briensbridge, barony of Tulla Lower. The representatives of George Gloster of Limerick held 644 acres in county Clare in the 1870s. A report in a county Tyrone newspaper records the murder in 1844 of Arthur Gloster of Moylish, near Limerick, who had purchased an estate at Toonagh, in county Clare, for which he paid at least £10,000. Another family of Glosters lived at Rockfield, parish of Ardcanny, county Limerick in the mid 19th century. Captain Richard Gloster owned 452 acres in county Limerick in the 1870s. He died in 1893.
