In the 1830s John L. Hackett was holding lands in the parish of Boyle from Lord Lorton's estate. At the time of Griffith's Valuation he is recorded as leasing a property at Ardcarn, barony of Boyle, valued at £25, also from Lord Lorton's estate. In 1885 his rental of lands in the barony of Boyle was offered for sale in the Land Judges' court.
