Harter
James C. Harter, the owner of a dry-salting and hardware firm in Manchester, bought the 5,000 acre estate of George Macklin in 1852. The estate was situated in the barony of Longford. In the 1870s James C. Harter of Hartivell Hall, England, owned 1,699 acres in county Galway.
